şimdilik 130 kadar filmde kullanılmıştır, bunların içinde bütün star wars'lar ve bütün indiana jones'lar bulunmaktadır, en son örneklerine de masters of horror'da rastlamaktayız. distant drums'ın post prodüksiyon ekibinin elindeki kağıtlara göre, sesin sahibinin sheb wooley'in olma ihtimali çok kuvvetlidir. bu çığlık o kadar meşhur olmuştur ki, adına müzik grubu bile kurulmuştur; ama ses editörleri bu konudan rahatsız ve sesi on yıllardır gizlice filmlere sıkıştıran insanlar, birer birer artık kullanmayacaklarını söylemiştir.

bir nevi ses sanatçılarının easter egg'i. insan yıllarca izlediği filmlerin içinden çekip çıkarınca, onu kendi koymuş gibi mutlu oluyor, detaylarla iyice bir keyfe geliyor. orijinal 1951 yılında, iyice popülerleşmesi ilk star wars filmiyle olmuştur. zaten en çok ölen şapşal stormtrooperlara yakışır bence. son yıllarda toplam kullanıldığı film sayısı 200'ü geçmiştir artık.
