çok ama çok kötü bir film. oscar falan aldığında aldanmamak lazım. ya da imdb'de puanının 7 olduğuna değer vermemek lazım.

bunun da nedeni flowers for algernon gibi muhteşem bir öykü/romana sırtını dayamasına rağmen, olabilecek en vurucu şeyleri atlıyor olması. sanki senarist, yıllar önce kitabı okumuş da şimdi aklında kalanlarla ortaya bir şeyler çıkarmaya çalışmış gibi.

charly'nin (nedense charlie değil) ailesi ile ilgili anılarının hiçbiri yok. bu yüzden ne charly'nin çocukken çektiği acıları yansıtabiliyor film, ne de bunları hatırladıkça charly'nin girdiği depresyon yanısıtılıyor. halbuki charly'nin zeka ile gelen depresyonunun en önemli nedeni bu. işten atılması falan değil. keza charly'nin kadınlarla ilişkisi de adam gibi anlatılmıyor. charly, asla alice'e tecavüz etmeye kalkmaz kitapta. adam seks bile yapamaz küçük charly izliyor diye. filmde olmayan bir başka karakter fay ile bile uzun zaman sonra seks yapabilmiştir. hem alice'in charly'nin yaptığı bu hayvanlığa rağmen ona geri dönmesine ne diyelim?

charly'nin dünyadan kopup gittiği sahneleri hayatım boyunca izlediğim en saçma film görüntülerinde ilk üçü zorlar. kendi fotoğrafını yırtıp arkasında "charly love" yazan deri bir ceket ile motorsiklet üstünde kızları öpmesi, ediz hun'un hippy haline benzeyen şekle girip abuk sabuk dansları, ot içerken çıkan "sigara sağlığa zararlıdır" uyarısı ve yönetmen beyin üç dakika boyunca saçmalayıp, sonraki 5-6 dakikada ise charly ve alice'in tam bir sonbahar havasında iç bayıcı konuşmalarına geçmesi, filmin en kötü bölümleriydi.

ravi shankar'ı severim ama bu müziklerin de öyküyle ve filmin tonuyla alakası yok.

neden oscar almış bu salak film peki? cliff robertson'ın charly rolüyle. bu bir klasik oscar taktiğidir. engelliyi oynarsan kazanırsın. robertson'ın charly rolündeki performansı da çok ahım şahım değil. masumiyeti verirken bir yandan da charly'yi korkutucu yaptığını söylemek lazım. ama ciddi olduğunda kafamdaki charly portresini yansıttığını da söylememek olmaz.

arkadaş şu kadar güzel bir hikayenin nasıl içine etmişsiniz, ne diyeyim.

animal trainer'a ait olanında charlie chaplin'in the great dictator filminin kapanış konuşması vokal olarak kullanılmıştır.

sözleri o nedenle muhteşemdir. hatta belki de şimdiye kadar yapılmış en iyi sözlere sahip parçalardan biridir bu.

elegant bir ritmin üzerine dünyanın en iyi komedyenine ait, en büyük diktatörün ağızından umut dolu sözler. zıtların hoş birlikteliği.
