80 yillarin kendine has video klip anlatimina cuk oturan bir klibe sahip, baymaz sarki. sarki sozu ve soze uygun birebir goruntu eslesmeleri cok eglenceli olmakla beraber, klip bir anlatim butunlugunden uzaktir. bu yapi, kliplerde ask romani tadinda hikaye izlemeye alismislar icin sacma olabilecekken, o yillarin tozunu yutmuslar icin sahane bir hediye pakedi gibidir...

sarki "and the big wheel keep on turning..." derken donen bir platformun ustune yatmis adam, "and i'm just high on the world..." derken ziplayan bir adam, "... take a low ride" derkense kucak kucaga kaydiraktan kayan bir cift goruruz. bu boyle sonuna dek devam ettiginden tek tek yazmaya gerek yok lakin rakinin votkanin gozune verilmis bi gecenin sonunda izlendiginde, son derece eglenceli ve dinlendirici olabiliyor. senden cok olmasin ama seviyorum seksenleri mark...

hüzünlüyken gözlerinizi dolduran, neşeliyken ise gülümseten bir değişik über şarkı.
dinledikçe bitmeyen, aksine daha da artan, değerlenenlerden. ve kolayca anısı olan şarkılar kategorisinde yer alabilecek türden.
mark knopfler, seni gitarın ve sağ elindeki üç parmakla birlikte müzeye kaldırmak lazım !

zorlama bir eleştirellikle, tüm rock n roll tarihini temsil etmesi üzerine bir şarkı belirleyecek olsak muhtemelen bu şarkıyı belirlerdik. öyle bir şarkıdır bana göre.

rock n roll'un tarihsel gelişiminden, beslendiği sosyal mevzulardan bahsetmeye hiç niyetim yok, üstteki swf'de dediği gibi bilirkişi veya uzman değilim. bu şarkıda başkaları tarafından algılanamayan bilinçli tercihlerimiz var. hayalet trenler karşısında çığlıklar atarak savrulan arabalar var. çok fantastik. kendini dünyanın üzerinde görme var, hadi buna diğer insanlar tarafından anlaşılamadığını düşünme kibri diyelim. hiç sürpriz değil. elinden tutmak istediğin sevgili, diğer güzel kızlar, çocukluktaki lunaparka özlem... bu şarkıda hepsi var. hüzünlü riff, hayali gitarınızla fazla mesai yaptırtacak solo. kesinlikle varlar. üstte denildiği gibi hüzünlüyken gözleri dolduran, neşeliyken gülümseten büyülü bir şarkı.

böyle tunnel of love gibi bir şarkı yapan insandan da şarkıcı diye bahsedilir, bizim güzelim kral tv'mizdeki şaklabanlardan da. müzik... asıl müzik bu olmalı, onlar ise sadece işe yaramaz, zamanda gereksiz yer kaplayan gürültüler olmalı.
