rihanna'yı, ciara, cassie, amerie gibilerin liginden çıkarıp bugün sahip olduğu süperstar statüsüne eriştiren albümdür. kendisinin barbados'un gülü havasını da iyice üzerinden attığı dönemdir ayrıca bu albüm dönemi.

reloaded versiyonunu da sayarsak umbrella, take a bow ve disturbia ile 3 adet bir numara çıkarmıştır albüm. michael jackson sample'lı don't stop the music de dünya çapında büyük ses getiren single'lar arasında yer edinmiştir kendine. hatta kendisinin zirveyi görmüş bazı şarkılarından daha yüksek popülarite sahibi olmuştur bile denilebilir genele vurulduğunda.

shut up and drive diğer single'lar kadar ses getirmese de rihanna bu şarkı ile değindiği tür yelpazesini new wave'e kadar genişletmiş, klibine justin timberlake'i konuk ettiği rehab ile de başarılı bir albüm dönemini geride bırakmıştır.

ayrıca single seçimleri açısından bu zamana kadar naçizane şahit olduğum en yerinde seçimlere konu olmuştur albüm. single olmayan şarkılardan lemme get that ve push up on me en dikkat çekicileri. bu arada bir tesadüf; albümün lokomotif teklisi ve belki de rihanna'nın kariyerinin gidişatını etkileyen en önemli şarkı olan umbrella'yı prodüktörleri tricky stewart ve terius nash, britney spears'a verecekleri düşüncesiyle yazmışlar; fakat plak şirketi, spears daha şarkıyı dinleme fırsatı bulamadan ellerinde yeterince şarkı olduğu düşüncesiyle reddetmiş ve şarkı rihanna'nın ellerine düşmüştür.

son olarak; good girl gone bad rihanna'nın bana kalırsa en iyi albümü olmasa da arkasında çok sağlam bir ekibin çalıştığı belli olan çok iyi bir ana akım dans pop/r&b albümü ve -bu kısmı tartışılabilir ama- kariyerindeki en önemli albümdür.
