britanya ordusu'ndaki pek çok birlik gibi derin kökleri olan, oldukça meşhur bir iskoç alayı. ayrıca "royal highlanders" olarak bilinir.

1. dünya savaşı'nda sadece 2'nci taburu ırak ve filistin'de türk ordusu'na karşı savaşmış, bunun haricinde birlik çoğunlukla fransa cephesindeki muharebelere katılmıştır.

kilt giymelerinden ve iyi savaşmalarından dolayı alman askerleri tarafından kendilerine "ladies from hell" dendiği rivayet edilir.

ingiliz ordusunun, 1725 yilinda kurulan, iskoc klan uyelerinden olusmus piyade birligi. birlige ismini zamaninda giydikleri koyu renkli iskoc usulu dikilmis uniforma vermistir. bugunlerde ise amerikan askerlerine yardim etmeleri icin bagdad'a gonderileceklerdir.
