brains and brawn make the perfect criminal combination. the bond villains mastermind the most ingenious plans for world domination, and their henchmen provide the necessary muscle to ensure that nothing gets in their way. what they lack in brains, the henchmen more than make up for with their strength and size. although they have not yet managed to succeed in stopping the threat 007 presents, they certainly have some unique ways of trying.

professor dent a geologist deeply entangled in dr. no's sinister plan to disrupt the superpowers' missile launching programmes, professor dent (played by anthony dawson) attempts to mislead 007 in his search for the secret behind crab key. he tries to stop bond's interference at first with a tarantula, then an attempted assassination where his six shot smith and wesson just isn't enough.

red grant masterfully played by robert shaw , red grant is a convicted killer trained by spectre as an assassin. in from russia with love, his mission is simple, to avenge dr. no by eliminating 007. part of an elaborate spectre plot, grant plays his part to perfection and is finally only defeated by bond's clever use of his q-branch gadgetry. without a doubt one of bond's toughest adversaries to date.
most memorable quote "the first one won't kill you... not the second... not even the third... not till you crawl over here and you kiss my foot."

rosa klebb a former head of smersh, rosa klebb (played by lotte lenya) defected from the russian secret service to join spectre as their number 3. her mission was to entice bond into a trap, using as bait a lektor decoder and a beautiful russian cypher clerk. a stern, resourceful woman, in from russia with love, klebb was tough and efficient, but still had her kicks.
most memorable quote "he seems fit enough..."

oddjob although not the best golf caddy in the world, goldfinger's mute korean manservant, oddjob (played by harold sakata), makes up for it in many other ways. remembered chiefly for his steel rimmed bowler hat, sakata (once a world weight-lifting champion who won silver in the 1948 olympic games) makes oddjob an almost invulnerable opponent for 007. however, bond's quick thinking finally leads to his shocking end. following the success of his part in goldfinger, sakata (also known as tosh toga) took oddjob as an informal middle name.

vargas largo 's cold, heartless bodyguard in thunderball, vargas (played by philip locke) plays a small but significant part in spectre's plan of world extortion. he keeps an eye on the developing relationship between bond and domino, but when he feels things are going too far, 007 helps him to get the point.
most memorable quote largo: of course, vargas does not drink, does not smoke, does not make love. what do you do, vargas?

mr. osato a hapless pawn in blofeld's game of world domination, mr. osato (played by teru shimada in his last big screen role) is the chief executive of osato enterprises. in you only live twice, he is closely involved in the spectre plot to start a world war by sabotaging space exploratory missions by both the u.s. and russia and supplies numerous technical innovations to the spectre space race.

helga brandt a spectre operative posing as mr. osato's secretary, helga brandt (played by karin dor) gets the upper hand on 007, and traps him in a falling plane. however, bond escapes, and brandt faces the wrath of spectre for her failure.
most memorable quote "mr. osato believes in a healthy chest."

irma bunt irma bunt (played with great gusto by ilse steppat) is piz gloria's stern matron. she is also blofeld's aide in bringing about his plan to release walking time bombs into society in the form of beautiful young women. in on her majesty's secret service, bunt soon puts an end to bond's amorous antics with blofeld's bevy of beauties, and finally ends 007's hopes and dreams when she callously guns down his wife just minutes after their wedding.

mr. wint and mr. kidd diamonds are forever's deadly duo, mr. wint (played by bruce glover) and mr. kidd (played by putter smith) cleverly added a lighter side to their nefarious deeds by their moralistic comments. employed by spectre to collect a large quantity of diamonds, following and cutting off the smugglers' pipeline from south africa in the process, they attempt to dispose of 007 in several imaginative ways, but end up leaving with their tails between their legs. most memorable quote mr. wint: if at first you don't succeed, mr. kidd... mr. kidd: try, try again, mr. wint.

tee hee named after his wicked laugh, tee hee (played by julius harris) is mr. big's number one. making his only appearance in live and let die, tee hee's favoured weapon is a steel hook replacing the right hand that he lost to a rather hungry alligator.

whisper another of kananga's henchmen who got his name because of his voice, whisper is soft spoken, but still menacing. played by earl jolly brown, whisper works undercover in st. monique as a waiter, lulling 007 into a false sense of security with his quiet, passive manner.

baron samedi the voodoo lord of the afterlife, baron samedi (played by geoffrey holder) is an integral part of kananga's plot to flood the u.s. drugs market. in live and let die, he uses his voodoo ceremonies to bump off those people standing in the way of his master's plan. quite possibly one of the eeriest of the bond characters, samedi is a forebidding figure who just doesn't seem to want to die.
most memorable quote "ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha"

nick nack nick nack, scaramanga's diminutive assistant, has a penchant for flair and gets his thrills from trying to use others to eliminate his boss. controller of the man with the golden gun's fun house, nick nack knows that when his master dies, he will become heir to his estate. played by fantasy island's herve villechaize, nick nack loves peanuts but is tough to spot in a crowd.

jaws strong, steel toothed and very, very big, richard kiel made jaws an invulnerable opponent for 007. although fed to a shark, driven into the roof of a house, thrown out of a train, dropped out of an aeroplane, crashed into a winching station, plummeted over a waterfall and allowed to freefall from space, jaws always just brushes himself off and carries on with the job in hand, which is killing bond. the ultimate villain's henchman, jaws was so popular in the spy who loved me that he made a return appearance in moonraker.

emile locque a convicted criminal who escaped from prison by strangling his psychiatrist, emile locque (played by michael gothard) is kristatos' right hand man. in for your eyes only, locque callously kills bond's contact and attempts to put 007 out of action. bond hits back, however, and chases locque down before ruthlessly pushing his car over a cliff with locque still at the wheel.

erik kriegler respected as a world champion in the pentathalon and admired by the ladies, erik kriegler (played by john wyman) has another, darker side to his character. in for your eyes only, he works for the nefarious kristatos in an attempt to sell the british atac to the russians. most memorable quotes "."

gobinda kamal khan's turbaned assistant, gobinda's tough stare is his most formidable feature. in octopussy, his undying loyalty to his master finally proves his downfall after being ordered out of a plane to dispose of the relentless 007. played by kabir bedi, gobinda is big and tough but none too bright.

mishka and grishka kamal khan's trained assassins, mishka and grishka (played by real life twins david andanthony meyer) are knife throwing circus performers in octopussy's travelling circus. however, they also use those knives with deadly consequences when anyone stands in the way of khan's plans.
most memorable quote grishka: this is for my brother.

mayday perhaps the most outrageous henchwoman in any bond movie, a view to a kill's mayday (played by singer/actress grace jones) is one tough cookie. after assassinating bond's contact, she makes a dramatic escape by skydiving from the eiffel tower, only to be betrayed by her lover, the scheming max zorin. joining forces with 007, she gives her life to stop zorin's planned earthquake on the san andreas fault.

necros a well built, soviet trained assassin, the living daylights', necros (played by andreas wisniewski) aids brad whittaker's arms dealing in order to receive support for his comrades. fluent in several languages, tough and resourceful, necros undertakes a number of guises in his attempts to eliminate british agents, most memorable of which is his explosive milkman.

georgi koskov a two-faced, smooth talking, double-crossing swindler, georgi koskov (played by jeroen krabbe) joins forces with brad whittaker in the living daylights to make a fortune out of "borrowed" russian money. their plan to revive smiert spionum (death to spies) as a cover for their deception almost leads 007 to assassinate the head of the russian secret service. koskov finally gets what he deserves when he is returned to his mother land under armed escort. most memorable quote pushkin: send him back to russia... koskov: oh, thank you, general, thank you! pushkin: in the diplomatic bag.

dario kicked out of the contras for being too crazy, sanchez's henchman, dario (played by benicio del toro) is a hardened criminal with no remorse. in licence to kill, he rapes and kills felix leiter's bride, then watches as leiter is fed to a shark. his gold toothed grin and boyish face mask his callous temperament. he finally gets his just rewards when he tries to turn bond into mincemeat.

boris grishenko a rather sad computer hacker with an interesting taste in shorts, boris (played by alan cumming) uses his computer skills to carry out a series of cyber-thefts from major british institutions before alec trevelyan uses the goldeneye satellite to wipe out all records stored in london.

dr. kaufman a trick shot assassin, dr. kaufman (played by vincent schiavelli), having already killed carver's wife, is given the seemingly simple task of assassinating bond and making it look like 007 was responsible for the death of paris. not quite as easy as it appears.
most memorable quote kaufman: i'm just a professional doing a job. bond: so am i.

mr. stamper elliot carver's right hand man, mr. stamper (played by götz otto), aims to become the ultimate in henchmen under the careful tutelage of dr. kaufman. standing at over 6ft in height and carrying a very large gun, in tomorrow never dies, mr. stamper callously murders the survivors of a ship wreck in an attempt to get good footage for the carver media network.

sashenka firo (the cigar girl) sashenka firo (codename cigar girl) is renard's "personal assistant". played by maria grazia cucinotta, she is a firearms and martial arts expert and has assisted renard on numerous occasions. in the world is not enough, she is a beautiful, but deadly, threat to 007.
