verhoeven'in ilk hollywood denemesi sayilabilir. paranin buyuk kismi amerika'dan gelmistir, oyuncularin da hatiri sayilir bir kismi amerikalidir. ve fakat cekimler avrupa'da yapilmis, bu esnada ozellikle oyuncularla ilgili pek cok problem cikmistir. verhoeven bu filmle farketmistir ki, 'hem orda, hem burda' olunamaz, ya gidilecektir hollywood'a yerlesilecektir, ya da hollanda'da kalinacaktir.
