"goodbye to the normals" was commissioned by robbie and his management company, the in good company ltd, as one of several short films commissioned to accompany the release of his latest album "rudebox".

the song you can hear during the film is "burslem normals", written and performed by robbie.

there is a viral version of "goodbye to the normals" doing the rounds online, that is a slightly shorter version of the film - but, yes, essentially it is the same film. it has achieved over half a million unique views online - quite unusual for a little british short film.

who is that kid in the film?
the actor playing "magnus" is a very talented young man by the name of alfie field, and "goodbye to the normals" was his first ever film role.

why do i recognise the guy playing the dad / girl playing the mum?
you probably do recognise either or both of them. steve furst, who plays "dad", will be familiar to many people from his involvement in little britain, amongst other things, as well as starring in the popular orange cinema adverts. "mum" is juliet cowan, who will be familiar to fans of "this life", as well as several tv comedies over the last few years.
